Betty & Bob

After watering mutual anniversary bouquets, Jenny led Ryan to the park bench she usually occupied solo. Opposite them sat an elderly couple deep in conversation and tenderly holding hands. Ryan laughed. "Look at Betty & Bob," he snarkily commented. Jenny felt envious. "After all those years they've still got it," she swooned. Once kissing commenced, Ryan had had enough. Taking Jenny's hand for the first time that day he made for home. Kickoff in thirty minutes.

Ersatz Betty & Bob remained seated. Finally, he said "It was a joy meeting you. Same place and time tomorrow?" Demurely grinning, she nodded.
